Make yourself worth it

Make yourself worth it!!

Typically I am prudent shopper who only purchases when they are necessary. But today was exception. I allowed myself to buy some grams of gold that was not essential but rather long time desire.

When I was young, my mother would take me to neighbhors named Thangam for EID prayers. Interestingly, Thangam that synonyms with Gold in my language. Thangam lived up to her name as she was always adorned with an impressive amount of gold jewellery. unlike most people, Thangam's first question was to ask for my name which was surprise as most people would make a sarcastic comment about my darker skin tone before anything else.  Perhaps, her own skin tone was darker too. I felt pleasant when I looked at her. I admired those numerous gold jewellery pieces. I never saw my mother wearing that many. Captivated by that dazzling gold anklet, I excitedly grabbed my mother's shoulder and pointed them out.

That night during prayers, I fervently pleaded. Ya Allah! bless me with gold anklet one day.

Despite earning an income for the past 15 years, the right moment to fulfil this long-outstanding wish never seemed to present itself until this evening.

Yess! today marks the culmination of a 32+ years long dream, as I proudly adorn my gold ankles with a pair of brand-new radiant gold anklets, fulfilling my wish that born on that memorable night, long ago.

Surprisingly, things have fallen in place today. I initially intended only to browse and get a sense of gold prices. serendipitously, I stumbled upon a shop on my way and decided to explore some designs. To my delight, I discovered a stunning pair of anklets with ideal size. The jeweller was friendly which made it easier to negotiate reasonably.

Finally I got my own gold anklets I have coveted for so long!!!
